Message Its not exactly a bold statement, it does not imply any opinion or subjective matter. It is the case that I know. The only thing the ECU has to put you in safety boost is the boost control solenoids. With the high octane and low octane maps being the same, there will be no performance decrease from it switching over to the low octane maps. But, with boost control solenoids and boost jets, the boost will drop from ~13-14psi down to 7psi. This lets you know it is in safety boost. However, with a boost controller and the solenoids eliminated, when it kicks into safety boost, it reverts to the low octane maps which are the same and your boost controller maintains your specified boost level. So nothing changes. That's not safe. If something is wrong, say it IS detecting knock because your girlfriend put 87 octane fuel in, it will retard timing and finally kick into safety boost. But because the low octane maps are the same as the high, and you have a boost controller, it will just keep on knocking. If the low octane maps were in fact richer and less advanced, the engine may stand a chance.

There's no slander in truth.
